Application of 3D laser scanner in automobile sheet metal parts

Today, the fierce competition in the market to promote the car manufacturers are stepping up the development of new models, in order to seize market opportunities to win huge profits. As the engine, chassis design and manufacturing technology is mature, the new model is mainly reflected in the body styling and electronic equipment. In the research and development of new varieties of car, the body sheet metal parts have the characteristics of complex shape, large size, high precision and strict surface quality. According to statistics, there are 40% of designers and engineers engaged in the development of a new type of car in line with the body parts of the work. The quality of sheet metal determines the success or failure of the development of new models. This is undoubtedly a new requirement for the detection of sheet metal parts. However, because of the defects of traditional instruments and three coordinate measuring machines, the surface shape of sheet metal can not be evaluated comprehensively, and the detection efficiency is low! Can not fully meet the needs of large-scale automobile production, how fast, accurate and convenient for the detection of sheet metal parts! Has become a vehicle factory must face the problem.

Canadian Creaform company developed the Handyscan 3D handheld three-dimensional laser scanner for the above problems to provide a new solution. The original positioning technology to achieve the scanning process of workpiece and flexible movement, make sure the scan does not stay dead, and it has high scanning accuracy (up to 0.04mm), get the characteristics of point cloud speed, easy operation, no workpiece size limit, provide a reliable guarantee for the automotive product development, quality control and vehicle parts the assembly is carried out smoothly.

The Handyscan 3D handheld applications of 3D laser scanner in the automotive sector is mainly: a car parts detection surface, hole boundary, rapid, intuitive and comprehensive; two, the reverse design of automobile parts, vehicle. In this paper, the welding assembly of the left side inner panel of a certain electric vehicle is studied, and the application of the Handyscan 3D portable 3D laser scanner in the quality analysis of automotive sheet metal parts is discussed.

The application of Handyscan 3D handheld three-dimensional laser scanner to detect sheet metal process is simple, easy to operate, and can be very efficient to make a comprehensive evaluation of the quality of sheet metal, the specific steps are as follows:

(1) sheet metal scanning. After the workpiece is well positioned, the workpiece is scanned by Handyscan, including the surface of the workpiece, the hole, the boundary and so on.

(2) scanning data preprocessing. The scanned data and CAD model into Qualify software, on the scanning data for noise removal processing after the CAD model created on the hole, square hole, circular groove and other characteristics, and the characteristics of automatically creating commands, automatically create corresponding features in the scanning data.

(3) scan data aligned with the CAD digital analog RPS. Qualify software provides the best fitting alignment, alignment, alignment and other features of RPS alignment, the RPS alignment method is specified from development to manufacturing and testing until the bulk loading each link all common location. The RPS alignment method is based on the constraint of the reference point system alignment, which can "lock" the key points in the model so as to establish the relationship between the starting point coordinate system and the CAD model coordinates. In the process of quality control, the key points of the method are considered, and the body parts of the car body, such as the hole and the groove, are more suitable for the [2]. Therefore, this paper uses the RPS method to scan the data with the CAD model.

(4) part error evaluation. Qualify software through the 3D comparison, comparison of features, such as the comparison of the command can be derived from the corresponding comparison results, as shown in Figure 3 to figure 5. Figure 3 shows the error between chromatogram scanning model and CAD model of 3D space, the operator can quickly scan model between any point and the corresponding CAD model and X Y, distance, direction error of Z three; Figure 4 shows the characteristics of scanning model and the corresponding CAD model, such as the error of circular hole, circular groove etc. in diameter, the center coordinates and other aspects; Figure 5 shows the error between the model and the CAD model of boundary scan.

In summary, the use of Handyscan 3D portable 3D laser scanner for sheet metal parts and method of detecting actual deviation of the visual space and the deviation of the quantitative ability combined with Qualify software, and it has a good effect in the actual quality management work, to avoid the traditional gauge and three coordinate measuring machine can detect the defects for a limited number of sections, and laid a solid foundation for the smooth development of assembly cycle and reduce the development cost of new vehicle models, a new type of shortening. Therefore, the Handyscan 3D handheld three-dimensional laser scanner has been widely recognized and applied in the field of automobile, aviation and other fields.
